A little bit of me...

If I were a dog, this would be me, thanks Maddie.

Back to Britain.

I have always appreciated London based line Aquascutum (hyperlinked) for their sophisticated style, brash basics, and palate options. However never did I love them as much as I do now....Have you seen their latest advertisements? They make me want to dress up like a school teacher and attack a man with wavy hair! Here they are:

WWII

If you know me, you know I am not very handy with numbers, in any form. I never remember them, rarely calculate them, and have trouble with era's and dates in history (because of the #'s.) The 20's is the only era I get straight in a time line and that is because of the kitschy phrase, "roaring 20's", yay for that. I generally describe a time by the clothes I see in my head or the popular furniture/car at the time and someone catches on quickly enough. With all this said I love the United Kingdom so in my excitement to redocrate (or decorate at all) I invested in the below poster. It was during WWII that Britain put up these posters in the streets for their citizens as bombs beraided their fantastic city...think the East side of the V&A museum which still stands with pock-marked stone walls. They come in many colors but this was the original as well as (in my opinion) the most striking. Woot!

When you think about it...

When I think about Orla Kiely I think stationary, note cards, her latest fad wallets and even beautiful new purses...I only recently became aquainted with her CLOTHING LINE!! Okay, Okay, so I can hear in my head some of you wondering who this lady is I am going on about BUT... pictured is her common pattern and if you have frequented boutiques, major upscale department stores, or even on a whim Anthro... you have seen some of her goodies. BUT I just found out today that she is following in the footsteps of Isaac, Chai, and Thaikoon...No ladies and gents she is not designing clothes for Target but...Drinkware, Dinnerware, and Storageware! Check it out because I was elated (below is my favorite designs.)

Some all time favorites deserve my respect.

As I read about Beauty Awards and Submissions and Editor's Favorite Picks, it makes me realize just how opinionated I am about my favorite goodies and how Lucky I feel to be in a place where I can even have favorites when other people do not get much at all. So in a thrust of immense gratitude here are my personal favorite picks!

BEST Trusty Basics Designer: I understand that he may be considered overpriced, or even dare I admit, extremely overpriced...but James Perse makes the most lovely basics a girl could ask for! The ONLY reason that I am willing to pay such an exorbitant amount for a t-shirt is this: I used to be the girl who collected black, white, and grey t-shirts from Forever 21, Target, JCPenny (yes times were hard and I got out of my comfort zone), and Shade. But with a stack of neatly folded basics there was one that was too short, one that was too long, on that was too faded... and then me and my incessant love of a good t-shirt found James and it was a match made in retail heaven. (Side note: There is NOTHING wrong with Target's Mossim Solid Colored T-shirts in fact I have black, grey, and purple because they are really quite fabulous on a more limited budget, currently $8 a piece!)

BEST Tinted Moisturizer: Never in my life did I think I would use more then blush and mascara, the htought of coating my skin with something unnatural made me is a silly way clausterphobic and hit on my fear that I would look plastic. But then Laura Mercier's Tinted Moisturizer with SPF 20 and I have a run-in (in Porcelain to be exact) and my life was never the same. Now I can hear half my freinds scoffing that I allowed a cream to change my life. But really, it makes my gross days brighter. It lends consistancy while avoiding grease and that thick masking effect that you may not have felt, but I am sure we have all seen it on someone... Anyway, as you increase in age and maybe wrinkles and maybe a need to cover-up give lovely Laura a try.
BEST Blending Option: Along the same lines, there is a new and amazing product out there that will help blend and mix hard to reach areas...not to mention the shape and color adds spice to your makeup routine. It is produced by Target's new makeup line by Sonia Kashuk. Go ahead and love it!

BEST Jeans In The Entire World: I remember seeing a size 00 girl with the most gorgeous jeans on a few years ago and I noticed the label had a British flag on it, and I thought, WHAT ARE THOSE?! They were perfect to me and I wanted them. Well, they maybe be a tad bigger then a 00, ha, but my Hudson jeans have become my quick favorites. They stay true to their color and don't wash away the denim's intensity, not to mention their thick waist band that keeps them from falling too low, always a plus. If you are used to paying for designer jeans or not you will really get your wear out of these babies! (Note to you: be aware that like most well-fit jeans they do stretch out after a few unwashed wears...)

that ideas quite sharp, eh?

Hahaha my title is so funny I kill myself sometimes!

Well the latest is that I am no less inundated with mass amounts of school and a full-time job HOWEVER sometimes, just sometimes I get amazing day-brighteners...like this one:

Our PR firm out of London pitched some ideas to me today, in an attempt to push one of our products that fills in wrinkles. (P.S. It really works I've used it on my downer days...) all of their ideas were out of the box which is what I push them for. But then they told me that they had the idea of taking key editors product and press materials AND taking a Sharpei puppy along to the editors to create buzz. I am not going to lie, in my adult filled company I literally squealed when they told me that!! eek eek eek.
And now that I am already writing a new blog I would like to mention to those of you out there reading, MINT.COM It is this website that brings together all of your bank accounts. investments, credit cards, and loans into one place and gives you details reports of your spending, tips on saving, and direct links to more effective investing and accounts. It is amazing and really makes you vigilant of your financial standing and the different options available.
