Christophe Lemaire, designer for Lacoste, stated:
"We're coming to the end of fashion craziness, due in part to the economic situation. People want timeless, street-inspired design rather then artificial, media-drive trends, and that's why, no doubt, Lacoste has been doing better every year. It's not that I don't add spice to each collection-I do. It's just that democratic design is the priority. Nothing makes me happier then seeing our polos worn by London cabbies, New York club kids, and the king of Spain!"
